András Simonyi PhD

Ambassador András Simonyi PhD (72) is a former Hungarian Ambassador to NATO (1995-2001) and the United States (2002-2007). Amb. Simonyi is a Senior Non-Resident Fellow at the Atlantic Council of the United States and a Visiting Scholar at the George Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Science. He is a transportation economist by training and holds a PhD in Political Sciences. Prior to his present work he was the managing Director of the center for Transatlantic Relations at SAIS Johns Hopkins University. His focus is transatlantic security and energy. He is a dual Hungarian/US citizen.

Dr. István Teplán

Dr. István Teplán is a distinguished economic historian, sociologist, and educator, with a rich academic background spanning Hungary and the USA. He played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Central European University (CEU), serving as its Executive Vice President from 1992 to 2007.  Dr. Teplán’s scholarly contributions extend to international conferences and journals, with a focus on metropolitan transformation. He is a co-contributor to the book “Budapest and New York, Studies in Metropolitan Transformation 1870-1930.” In recognition of his significant contributions, Dr. István Teplán is a recipient of the Officers Cross of Merit of the Hungarian Republic.
