In the name of the Prosum Foundation we warmly welcome the election of Ms Roberta Metsola for the position of the President of the European Parliament. 

Ms Metsola coming from a small European nation understands very well the problems of corruption and the treats to free speech and the freedom of the press. In her maiden speech as President of the European Parliament tackled threats to the EU, climate, democracy and journalism. She has sent a strong message to those who attempt to undermine democracy, the rule of law, free speech and fundamental rights, who see women as a target, and who deny the rights to our LGBTIQ citizens. We sincerely hope that as a President of the European Parliament she will be a strong supporter of European Public Media which could help to solve some of the Europe-wide problems she spelled out in her speech, such as misinformation, disinformation and autocratic and anti-democratic attacks on European values and civil liberties. The Prosum Foundation as a long time promoter of a European Public Media  offers its co-operation – with other civil society organizations – to President Metsola to reach these desired goals in order to build a stronger European Union.
